Why this brand

Il Forteto

Il Forteto’s farmers cooperative was founded in 1977 and it settled in the farm of Bovecchio, in the municipal district of Barberino di Mugello, Florence, famous for the Moto GP circuit “Mugello”.

The farmers cooperative Il Forteto didn’t yet exist back in 1975, but there was a group of young people, around 19-20 years old, who would meet in the rooms of a parish in Prato. They were students, young workers who gathered together to talk about their problems and to engage in some social activities: after-school and recreational activities for children and disabled support activities. The group felt the need for a common future, the prospect of a life together. Farming seemed then the best environment to put into effect their idea of a life together. The cooperative was chosen because this kind of association doesn’t aim at piling up profits, but at offering adequate living conditions to the workers.

How to use it

Pecorino with Truffle will be the King of your cheese board and if you have some leftover (we doubt it!) you can grate on top of pasta, ravioli, bread, pizza to just make everything taste wonderful!

Accompaniments: Berries or Fig jam, Quince Paste Assorti, Strawberry Compote with Balsamic Vinegar Modena IGP Assorti, Honey, Pears.
Pairing: Bold, Big, Hearty Red Wines (Barolo, Amarone, Nero D’Avola, strong and aged Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Cabernet, Merlot).
